Ip Man's Wing Chun

Adapted from the life story of Ip Man,the grand master of the Wing Chun style of kung fu and sifu of legendary kung fu superstar Bruce Lee.Ip's persistent devotion to Wing Chun is a classic example of the love and respect shown to wushu and the freedom and spirit it represents. The 108 minutes duration of this movie was filled with action-packed adrenaline rush.Of course, there are also a few humorous jokes brought in.The storyline was splendid, showing the World War II era and the glory of both China and Wing Chun.
The movie was directed by Wilson Yip and Sammo Hung(action director).Meanwhile, lead actor Donnie Yen really acted well as Ip Man and the fighting scenes were superb.
Overall i would give 4.5 popcorns up.Catch it at your nearby theaters now !

Self defence against takedowns and side punches

How would you react when the assailant is applying a takedown?
Here are 2 methods of self defence against it.

The first method would be a headpress whereby you control and push the assailant's head downwards when he is charging towards you.
Firstly, you would have to take control of his head by simply grabbing his neck ,move backwards or lower your stance if he is trying to grab your leg or torso.
Next, follow the flow and direction of his charge and pin him down.

The second method would be a reverse neck hold whereby you grab hold of the assailant's head and arm and apply a submission.

What if your reaction is slow and the assailant pin you down sideways and start striking aggressively? This video will show you how to apply an armbar immediately when you left in such vulnerable position.

3 ways to regain your fighting stance

As you have seen in the previous videos, you can use your legs and shoulder blade as a form of self defence.
Other than that, there are other ways to make a comeback.
Video attached will show you 3 ways to get back to your fighting stance.
The first would be a reverse back roll, followed by a spinning leg scissors and lastly would be a backflip.
However, one must be agile to do that. Therefore practice makes perfect !

Defence against floor attack 2

The third and final video is an elaboration with explanation.

We will be going through self defence against leg strikes and kicks for ground fighting in our next few postings.

Defence against floor attack

How would you react if you are violently pushed to the floor? And the next thing you know, the assailant would be striking your head mercilessly.
Therefore, this posting will show you a way to defend yourself against such vicious attacks.
The first video would be a negative demonstration whereby you are helpless and at the assailant's mercy.

The second video would show you how to counter such attacks.

Notice that you are supposed to raise your legs as a stopper and use your shoulder blade as a key for movement?Sway your shoulder blade both backward and sideways and move your legs constantly to prevent him from catching it.Doing this will maintain a safe distance between you and your assailant and enable you to execute your next move.

Advanced self defence for ground fighting

After learning several ways to escape from such compromise position where your assailant is on top of you,it's time to proceed with a reversal.
You can chose to run, call for help or even retaliate by mounting on top of the assailant.Meanwhile applying an arm/foot lock would be an alternative.
The video attached is a foot lock reversal which is applied smoothly and effectively.

An alternate way for self defence in ground fighting

Here's another method for self defence when you are trapped in such vulnerable position.
You just have to put your opponent off equilibrium by grabbing any firm area such as his shoulder or shirt. Then throw your opponent overhead as far out as possible by executing a shoulder extension and a hip raise at the same time.
Proceed with a rollover immediately after opponent is being throwed.
