Wrestling with pinfalls

Fitfighter's 100th post will feature an extremely popluar combat sport in the Olympics, wrestling.
As you all know,Wrestling is an ancient martial art that uses grappling type techniques such as clinch fighting, throws and takedowns, joint locks, pins and other grappling holds. A wrestling bout is a physical competition, generally between two people, who attempt to gain and maintain a superior position. Wrestling is one of the oldest of martial arts with references to it as early as the Iliad that recounts the Trojan War in the 13th or 12th century BC. There are a wide range of styles with varying rules with both traditional historic and modern styles. Wrestling techniques have been incorporated into other martial arts as well as military hand-to-hand combat systems. So the main objective is to ground your opponent on the mat and secure a pinfall.

The next posting will showcase our Europe tour in the beautiful Paris.

Skipping

Attached is a short clip of skipping.Skipping is an important and essential part of martial arts as it trains you both physically and mentally.
Skipping trains stamina and different muscle groups like your calves and shoulders.
It also trains your endurance and coordination.Skipping varies in different style and speed,it is best to do in a relax manner. We usually skip for a round that last 2/3 minutes.
So how do you see and identify a good skipping rope?Nevertheless the skipping rope must have the best fit length and it can be obtain by tying a knot or two.The skipping rope also have to be light and durable.
All these factors enable you to skip fluently.

Scouts Founders Day

Happy Founders Day to fellow scouts all over the world.Personally,I am a scout and we always commemorate this meaningful event on every 22nd February. Also, this will be the 99yh year of scouting in Singapore.
Over the years, scouting had taught me many skills, from day to day skills to leadership skills, etc.
Being in Hougang Rangers also allows me to take part in enjoyable events such as campfires and even the recent District Day held in Serangoon Secondary School. There were games and events like 8x50m scarf relay race, sour grapes and even tug of war.Nonetheless,Hougang Rangers came in 1st position in several events.
Scouting also brought me to several adventurous activities such as abseiling and windsurfing.Sounds fun isn't it?So let me again, wish all fellow scouts a very Happy Founder's Day.

Ong Bak 2

YO!Have you catch it yet?(Points up)
Haha. That's right, the long awaited Ong Bak 2 is out!
I managed to catch this 97 minutes long action packed film with my bros at AMK Hub this afternoon.
The fighting scenes were really splendid, storyline was average but the ending was unsatisfactory.Well, reviews mentioned that the reason why the show have to end in such horrible way was due to budget and negotiation problems.
But it is always nice to see Tony Jaa cracking bones and whooping ass;all filled with adrenaline rush.
Overall I would rate the third Tony Jaa movie 3.5/5.
On the other hand, one particular matter i don't understand is that why must the movie be rated NC16?Yes,the movie is indeed violent but it's ain't gory.
Surely, children below 16 can watch it for entertainment.Meanwhile, even Jack Neo's new comedy film,Love Matters is rated NC16?This is really atrocious because the film was meant for families to enjoy together especially when the Lunar New Year is approaching!
This is crazy, but it really doesn't bother me because I am gonna be 16 this year!Hehe.

Likewise, the moves are not choreograph and done in slow pace for ease of viewing.

Self defence against a knife strike

Attached will show and explain how to defend yourself against a knife strike.
Step 1 would be the most prominent and important step. When the assailant is charging at you aggressively,DO NOT panic but instead move forward.Immediately move and parry to either side as you avoid the cutting range while you block and grab the assailant's arm.
Step 2,you can follow up with any strikes like an eye gorge,an elbow or a knee to the groin. This weakens and distracts the assailant.
Step 3,to get rid of the knife from the assailant's hand, you can either push the blade downwards or deliver a knee onto his arm.The assailant will feel the pain and release the knife.
From there, you can either chose to run, call the police or pin him .
SIMILIAR TO OUR PREVIOUS BLOG ON KNIFE DEFENCE, THESE TECHNIQUES SHOULD
ONLY APPLY WHEN THERE IS NO OTHER PEACEFUL SOLUTIONS OR WAYS TO ESCAPE.
